Daniel Bagley Green Field Project
We had an amazing response to our call for volunteers for our first Green Field work party!
Both parents and kids turned out in force to help us. We totaled 127.5 hours of volunteer work and accomplished two crucial tasks:
- Laying the finish line bricks
- Spreading the mulch over the planting bed
Work Parties
Help us complete the project at the work parties on September 24th and 25th where we will focus on planting trees and spreading more mulch. If
you have wheel barrows, shovels, shop brooms, garden rakes, mallets, and/or gloves, please
bring them with you. They'll get plenty of use!
- Sept 24 (10am-12pm)
- Sept 25 (1pm-3pm)
- Oct 8 (10am-12pm)
- Oct 9 (1pm-3pm)
- Oct 15 (10am-12pm)
- Oct 16 (1pm-3pm)
- Oct 22 (10am-12pm)
- Oct 23 (1pm-3pm)
Thank you for your continued support of the Green Field Project and we look forward to seeing
you at a work party!
Green Field Project Highlights
- 10,000 square foot grass field, drained and irrigated in the southwest section of the playground
- 20,000 square feet of environmentally friendly pervious asphalt in place of the grassy (muddy) area in the northeast section of the playground
- 5,000 square feet of trees and landscaping along western side of playground
- Running track around the outside of the field
Who Benefits + Why
- All current and future Bagley students and local residents: A safer, more accessible,
more beautiful playground promotes physical fitness and community building as it raises
neighborhood property values.
- Salmon and their natural habitat: New pervious asphalt surface reduces water run-off, helping
preserve endangered ecosystems
